What a beautiful Sunday! Today I woke up nice and early to get in a morning run through the Domain. Little did I know that there was a Marathon going on and I somehow ended up on the marathon route. Trying not to panic, because there were photographers, really intense runners, cones and cheering quads everywhere, I managed to slip out after what felt like the longest 10 minutes of my life. After I had worked off a fraction of yesterday’s calories and built up an appetite for breakfast I called it quits and headed back to Parnell Student Village. In an hour I was out the door with my sundress and sunglasses on, carrying my big reusable shopping bag around my arm. The Parnell French Market is every Saturday and Sunday at 69 St Georges Bay Road. St. Georges Bay Road is not far from Claybrook, but it is a very long street and the Market is all the way down and at the end.
The Parnell French Market is by far the best market in Auckland. There were more stands, samples, food, desserts, pastries, breads, cheeses than I have ever seen in my life. Naturally, I went around and sampled every stand. Sausage stands, paella, crepes, coffee shops, the options were endless. I ended up buying a Spicy Mango Feta Cheese, Pita Bread and some clementines.
For lunch I had the BBQ sausage on a bun and it was delicious! In addition to the outdoor stands, there was also an indoor wine store, coffee and breakfast shop, and many other fancier vendors. I spent almost the entire morning at the market and I am looking forward to going next Saturday and Sunday!
